Tasting Notes
This elegant, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon is rich in color and shows off aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate, and cassis. The entry is creamy, with well-integrated tannins and a lingering finish of dark red fruit flavors.
Vintage Notes
Warm sunny days throughout the spring and summer months set the stage for a spectacular harvest in September 2014. The lack of rain meant that harvest began a little earlier than normal and was short in length, finishing up by the end of October. The temperate days leading up to harvest produced good yields of high-quality fruit with concentrated flavors, complex aromatics, and excellent structure.
Vineyard Notes
This fruit comes from our Certified Sustainable Estate Lagomarsino Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. This scenic vineyard, just south of the town of Healdsburg, ascends into the foothills providing warm, sunny days above the fog line, ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. The long growing season of the Russian River Valley allows full ripeness, but with less aggressive tannins than in warmer regions.
Winemaker Notes
All grapes are gently de-stemmed before cold-soaking for two days to extract optimal color and flavor. The fruit is fermented in separate lots, allowing each lot to be individually and distinctly crafted before being aged in French Oak barrels, 60% new. The wine is kept 20 months in barrel before final blending.
