Uboldi Vineyard
Tasting Notes
Bright and refreshing, this wine has flavors and aromas of citrus blossom, tangerine zest, and stone fruit leading to a touch of white peach and minerality on the finish. This is an elegant Sauvignon Blanc with both depth and delicacy.
Vintage Notes
Warm sunny days and cool afternoons throughout the spring and summer months set the stage for a spectacular harvest in September 2014. The lack of rain meant that harvest began a little earlier than normal and was short in length, finishing up by the end of October. The temperate days leading up to harvest produced good yields of high-quality fruit with concentrated flavors, complex aromatics, and excellent structure.
Vineyard Notes
Fruit for this lovely wine comes from one of our top growers in the heart of Sonoma Valley. Farmed by the Uboldi family for several generations, this vineyard sits on the valley floor in Kenwood, about a mile from our winery. Cool mornings and warm afternoons in this vineyard produce fruit with classic Sauvignon Blanc characteristics and pronounced flavors.
Winemaker Notes
Picked at dawn, these grapes arrived cold and were carefully placed directly into our small bladder press. The free-run juice was collected and sent to a stainless steel tank where the wine was fermented slowly at 55º for 33 days, preserving the wonderful aromas of Sauvignon Blanc. We prevented malolactic fermentation to preserve the wine’s clean, crisp texture. It was then aged for five months before bottling.
