This wine opens with enticing aromas of fudge, cherry cordial, and blackberry, layered with hints of vanilla paste and sarsaparilla. On the palate, rich dark flavors take center stage, complemented by warm baking spices and a luscious, full-bodied structure. Broad, coating tannins create a luxurious texture, leading to a bold and enduring finish that balances depth with complexity.
Our 2022 harvest began just a little earlier than the previous year, with the first fruit picked on August 15. Limited rainfall during the growing season produced slightly lighter crops, bringing intense, concentrated flavor and color. The consistent weather during the summer months helped maintain fruit acidity, bringing brightness and balance to the fruit’s flavors. Harvest continued through the middle of October when we picked the last red grapes from our Sonoma Valley estate, Wild Oak Vineyard.
The Cabernet Sauvignon for this illustrious wine is sourced from our Lagomarsino Estate Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. The wine incorporates Petite Sirah from our Wild Oak Estate Vineyard in the Sonoma Valley, showcasing familial similarities and the delicate nuance of the terroir.
The Cabernet Sauvignon lots were fermented individually before going to barrel to age for 17 months. The lots were chosen for their unique expression of the vineyard, ranging from brightly fruit-forward wines to rich, savory lots. The Petite Sirah was blended in 3 months before bottling, bringing a lifted blueberry and floral note to complement the Cabernet and round out the final blend. Vineyard Notes The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our Lagomarsino Estate Vineyard in Russian River Valley and blends unique blocks from this hillside vineyard. The Petite Sirah is sourced from our Wild Oak Estate Vineyard in the Sonoma Valley.
