Bacchi Vineyard
Tasting Notes
This distinctive Zinfandel opens with inviting aromas of blueberry pie, baked pastry, and a delicate hint of white pepper. On the palate, it showcases layered complexity with soft yet structured tannins and indulgent flavors reminiscent of cherry cheesecake with compote. The vibrant mouthfeel is both supple and multi-dimensional, leading to a finish that is refined and texturally alluring.
Vintage Notes
Our 2022 harvest began just a little earlier than the previous year, with the first fruit picked on August 15. Limited rainfall during the growing season produced slightly lighter crops, bringing intense, concentrated flavor and color. The consistent weather during the summer months helped maintain fruit acidity, bringing brightness and balance to the fruit’s flavors. Harvest continued through the middle of October when we picked the last red grapes from our Sonoma Valley estate, Wild Oak Vineyard.
Vineyard Notes
This vineyard is picked & fermented by its two distinct blocks: the “House Block” (47%), which has smaller yields & more mixed varieties, producing a dark-dense wine. The other block, known as the “Hill block” (49%), is almost exclusively Zinfandel & makes a wine much brighter in fruit with spicier aromatics.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes undergo a five-day cold soak before fermentation to extract optimal color and aroma. After primary fermentation, the wine is pumped into French oak barrels, 20% new, where it undergoes natural malolactic fermentation during its elevage before blending in a 4% touch of Petite Sirah right before bottling.
