Tasting Notes
This rich Sauvignon Blanc bursts with bright tropical notes of guava and peach, backed by an herbaceous hint of lemon verbena. The mouthfeel is supple, with tangy pineapple and citrus notes in the middle. Crisp acidity brightens the long finish.
Vintage Notes
Cooler temperatures and an abundance of spring rains in 2023 pushed back the first day of harvest to the beginning of September. The later start and extra ripening time for the fruit allowed flavors and color to develop slowly for depth and concentration. Warm fall days spread out harvest to the end of October for many of the red varieties, with a final pick of Merlot delivered to the winery on November 2.
Vineyard Notes
All of the fruit for this lovely wine comes from our Certified Sustainable Wild Oak Vineyard located at the base of the majestic Sugarloaf Ridge and Hood Mountain in historic Sonoma Valley. Over the centuries, rock and gravel has washed down from the mountain range providing an ideal soil for Sauvignon Blanc while the region’s moderate climate prolongs ripening and hang time, promoting natural balance in this wine.
Winemaker Notes
Picked at dawn, these grapes arrived cold and were carefully placed directly into our small bladder press. Free-run juice was collected and fermented slowly over 30 days, preserving the wonderful aromas of Sauvignon Blanc. 86% of the juice was fermented at 55F in stainless steel tank with balance being fermented in Acacia wood barrels for added aromatic complexity and added depth. We prevented malolactic fermentation to preserve the wine’s clean, crisp texture. The wine was aged for five months before bottling.
